Private Project Paris

"Every development has a metaphysical and poetic link with its site." Marcella Briza

In this 250m2 Haussmanian apartment, MBI Studio, without any prior briefing, began by rethinking the openings from the entrance gallery. The living room and the dining room were united in the same space, free of any division.
In order to obtain a sober and elegant ceiling line, an invisible air conditioning was installed in the cornices of all ceilings as well as an invisible sound system was included inside the ceilings.
A home automation system connects the apartment equipment, from light to temperature management and electrical rods. Digital screens are installed at the entrance of each room and area.

Challenge

The challenge in this project was to cultivate a balance between French tradition and modernity by including a new architectural history. A Calacatta marble with a Pietra Gray marble insert were selected for the floor of the entrance hall. A curved ceiling decorated with pilasters on each side was created in order to magnify the aesthetics of the gallery.
The opening facing the front door was moved to the center of the hall to allow to see the living room two monumental niches dressed with silver straw marquetry.
A contemporary version of Versailles parquet made of oak, was installed with underfloor heating. A third niche was created in the entrance hall to allow visitors to extend their visual field to a work of art inserted in this space. Each room and bathroom has its own identity in terms of material treatment, and furnishing in order to to create a feeling of well-being and comfort.
